It is like the institution is building its brand of quality, innovation and knowledge by creating these eight seconds of everyday pleasure, realism, fantasy and colourful beauty. As when hundreds of young Norwegians are jumping up and down in front of a stage in the rain at Rådhusplassen in Oslo and the giant blue ball that exemplifies the dot in the NRK logo is bouncing between them. That is what we would call poetic realism. So is the blue ball bouncing down the stairs close between summerly dressed legs and feet, and the spectacular view from an air balloon. However, the one ident from the city with a small crowd looking up into the sky, is pure magic. The idents are as up-close and personal as they are commonly recognisable, so perfectly balanced and put together – the background, the colours, the sound design. Yes, the NRK idents continue to be small pieces of art that brighten up our television days. Directed by Jan Otto Wiig and shot by Simon Hawken. The 3D animation is created by Tor Øra.
