THE NORWEGIAN ALL TIME FAVOURITE SOFT DRINK SOLO HAS BEEN OVER TO THE CITY OF ANGELS IN THE LAND OF THE FREE TO PROMOTE THAT YELLOW DRINK. DIRECTOR LASSE GRETLAND HAS DOCUMENTED THE CAMPAIGN AND THE RECEPTION OF THE SOFT DRINK AMONG THE INHABITANTS OF LA.


It certainly don’t take much more than sunny images from California to tempt and convince us back in the homeland that Solo is the real thing – Solo is it! Our Hocus Focus editor Henrik Berge has worked night and day with his life on stake, to edit together large chunks of material in numerous split screens. The biggest problem has probably been to “kill all their darlings”, because here it has flooded with great images and unique situations. Haavard Albertsen and Johannes Ringen have both done their excellent part of creating the Real California Vibe in colour grading and in the sound recording – and we can feel it. A lot of people have contributed and head of production is Try. Responsible for production in LA is Jil Hardin and the one who documented it all was photographer Kristoffer Archetti. Post produced by Hocus Focus and Henriette Carlsen, who has a question: The campaign has created a bit of a fuzz in media already. The question is whether it is a real launching of Solo in the states or if it is an international fake campaign targeted towards the Norwegian market. What do you think?

WE ARE GOING ON A SUMMER HOLIDAY! THE NEW COMMERCIAL FROM GRØNT PUNKT NORGE (=GREEN DOT NORWAY) IN COOPERATION WITH THE PRODUCTION COMPANY TRØBBEL IS PRODUCED, SHOT AND READY TO GO IN MARCH. HOWEVER, A FEELING OF NOT ONLY SPRING BUT SUMMER IS VERY PRESENT.


This is a result of hard work on the set and the capable, colour grading hands of Haavard Albertsen. Green Dot is a privately owned non-profit company responsible for financing the recovery and recycling of used packaging. The project and the work has been fun, fun, fun, from start to beginning, and every step of the way. That includes putting the bits and pieces together, done by Hocus Focus editor Ove Kenneth Nilsen. Most of the work has actually taken place in the sound studio and with great efforts by Johannes Ringen. If you listen very carefully, Hocus Focus is very well represented as the happy, singing cartons who are going on a holiday. There is no doubt about it – we like green films! NO, WE HAVE TO ADMIT, WE ARE NOT QUITE THERE YET – 2011: A SPACE ODYSSEY. HOWEVER, WE ARE IN SPACEWORLD AND THE PRODUCTION COMPANY SMALLFILM HAS MADE AN AMUSING CAMPAIGN OF NEW COMMERCIAL FILMS.

We meet a rather geeky guy with curls and glasses in this Avatar meets Star Trek meets Space Rap production. The voice-over simply screams “I am a Spaceman” and together with curly, they are informing and showing off some of the new products like Canon Ixus 105 and our by now beloved iPod Touch with games, apps and what have you. It all happens in a very high-tech sort of way, directed by Michael Pfleghar and produced by Elisabeth Enstad. A further download includes a Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 and the upgraded bestseller Nintendo DSi, who everybody with kids are eternally grateful for. Super Mario seems a lot more friendly than those blue people with dangling jewellery rapping around with the geek in a space dress (or is it a too large athletic jump suit?). EVERY WEEK, WE AT HOCUS FOCUS ORDER PIZZA ORIGINALE. WHEN DAY TURNS TO NIGHT AND THERE IS STILL A LOT OF WORK TO BE DONE, THE ORIGINALE IS THE BOYS’ ALL TIME FAVOURITE.

Therefore, we always have a stuffed freezer. So now we thought it was about time to have some influence on the creation of the image and the look of the pizza. Strongly influenced by our own associations to the product, of course. Coming up is also the film of new Originale Pasta products. Both films are shot on the very popular Alexa by Nico Poulsson, under the direction of Steinar Borge. In an all-Italian setting, with bright coloured red tomatoes and green basil, you can almost smell and taste our beloved Italian food. The hunger gets us, that’s for sure and that must be the primary goal for food commercials. The production company is Trøbbel and the producer is Miriam Pedersen.
