ON THE BARE MOUNTAINS OF SNOW AND ONLY SNOW, A SPORTY, FRESH AND HAPPY GIRL IS STANDING IN A COLOURFUL JACKET SMILING. SHE IS READY FOR TAKE-OFF. NOT BY PLANE THIS TIME. SHE WILL BE TAKEN AWAY BY A DOG SLED RACING TEAM. THE QUESTION IS: WHAT DO YOU LOOK FORWARD TO DOING THIS WINTER?

Now the whole of winter Norway is on sale at Widerøe. The Norwegian Airline Widerøe can bring you across our long-stretched country. In January and February Widerøe can even do so to reduced prices. The new campaign with a splendid film illustrates the company’s mission perfectly, and it sure looks tempting! The airline is the largest regional airline in Scandinavia; it has close to 400 take-offs and landings every day and operates more than twice as many airports in Norway than any other airline, so jump on. We at Hocus Focus also had the pleasure of getting to know the producer and director of the film; Mr. Patrick Katzman, and we hope to continue the cooperation shortly. Further has Kavar Singh edited the commercial, which is post produced by Pia Røe Nyhus and Hocus Focus: Online and colour grading by Mathias Theissen and sound design by Preben Grieg-Halvorsen. WE LOVE THE CHRISTMAS COMMERCIALS FROM LIBRIS. IT IS ALMOST LIKE THEY ARE NOT PROMOTING ANYTHING, BUT RATHER IS THE DEFINITION OF THE HOLIDAY SEASON. WHY: BECAUSE CHRISTMAS IS BOOKS.

Last year a bundle of Norwegian authors decorated the Libris store with their books. This year they are really putting themselves out there. When our most beloved authors (like Vigdis Hjort and Erlend Loe) and a few controversial ones (Ari Behn?) are releasing their latest work, it is an event in itself. When they are singing ”I Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” in addition, it is pure joy. No wonder the director Steinar Borge starts the singing relay with the tenor (and author) Øistein Wiik – it is no prerequisite for writers to be good singers, as you all know. Finn Bjelke is refusing to sing, but he is out with the book “Gretne gamle gubber (=Grumpy old men) and can’t be helped, of course. We have church bells, and snow is in the air. We have the cosy and warm bookstore in the cold and busy city, and we have Ari Behn sitting in a worn-out leather wing chair. Director Borge manages with his warm humour to relax those in front of the camera and that is an achievement! Libris is bringing it home with their slogan at the end: It will not become Christmas for real without the authors. The production company is Trøbbel Film and the producer is Miriam Pedersen Eeg. Post produced by Henriette Carlsen and Hocus Focus: Edited by Ove Kenneth Nilsen, online and colour grading by Bengt Ove Sannes and sound design by Preben Grieg-Halvorsen. Happy Christmas to you!

DECEMBER IS APPROACHING AND IT IS SANTA CLAUS’ TURN TO MAKE A FOOL OUT OF HIMSELF IN A COOP PRIX STORE. YES, WE ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT THE GREAT SUCCESS OF THE COMMERCIAL FILMS INCLUDING PEOPLE WE KNOW OR NOT, WITH ONE THING IN COMMON: THEY ARE MISUNDERSTANDING THE ONE-FOR-TWO DEAL THAT THE COOP PRIX STORES HAVE ON OFFER.

With Anna Anka, Ole Lukkøye and last but not least, Rachel Nordtømme vividly in mind, we have nothing but warm and tender feelings for the scruffy Santa Claus who misunderstand the situation. We are wishing all the best for this guy and feel perhaps more sorry for the shopping mall Santa, than embarrassed that he gets it wrong. And of course, we are all happy to welcome the Christmas time again, and start to look for the advent candelabra and those Christmas CDs. The director is Steinar Borge and the production company is Trøbbel film with producer Miriam Pedersen Eeg. The commercial is shot on RED epic, and post produced by Henriette Carlsen and Hocus Focus: Edited by Henrik Berge, online and colour grading by Bengt Ove Sannes, and sound design by Preben Grieg-Halvorsen. Just keep these films coming!

COMING UP: A GROUNDBREAKING AND EXCITING DOCUMENTARY PROJECT ENTITLED 300 SEKUNDER (= 300 SECONDS). A NEW CONSTELLATION HAS MADE THESE FILMS POSSIBLE.

The project is financially supported by the Norwegian Film Institute, produced by the production company Indiefilm and distributed on VG's WebTV-channel VGTV. The seven well established directors; Even Benestad, Erling Borgen, Tommy Gulliksen, August B. Hanssen, Solveig Melkeraaen, Thor Bekkavik and Kenneth Elvebakk, have created six individual and separate short documentaries of five minutes. Watching one of them on a small laptop screen is very promising for the whole project. Thor Bekkavik’s documentary is about children and gaming, a controversial and much debated topic. However this time, four boys playing the war game and bringing the game into the playground, are given a voice. They are questioning their parents and other grown-ups negativity and fear of violent games, while giving us a hundred reasons to be worried. Without moralising, the film hits you in the stomach and it is a real pleasure to experience quality programming created for a web channel. This is a new platform for Norwegian documetarists, and the first time NFI grants production support to a series on WebTV. We are cheering along producer Carsten Aanonsen from Indiefilm and the rest of the initiators. Post produced by Ole-Arild Svendsen, Henriette Carlsen and Hocus Focus: Online and colour grading by Mathias Theissen, sound design by Preben Grieg-Halvorsen and Johannes Ringen.

COOP PRIX IS REPEATING PREVIOUS YEARS SUCCESS WITH COMMERCIAL FILMS INCLUDING PEOPLE WE KNOW AND THOSE WE DON’T KNOW. ALL OF THEM HAVE ONE THING IN COMMON: THEY ARE MISUNDERSTANDING THE ONE-FOR-TWO DEAL THAT THE COOP PRIX STORES HAVE ON OFFER.

Coop Prix is repeating previous years success with commercial films including people we know and those we don’t know. All of them have one thing in common: They are misunderstanding the one-for-two deal that the Coop Prix stores have on offer. We all remember Anna Anka and her taking the cut in costs for a celebrity-treatment. The same goes for Ole Lukkøye, who thinks he still scares us to death with his right hook. These are really embarrassing and uncomfortable situations, that makes us sweat. Now the turn has come to the young, sweet and often challenged Rachel Nordtømme. As many times before, the former girlfriend of Petter Northug is making it hard to sit still in a chair and watch. Hence, there is no doubt that also the new commercial works – at least at Hocus Focus. Director Steinar Borge is doing a great job navigating the project with a calmness and a warm humour. The production company is Trøbbel film and the producer is Miriam Pedersen Eeg. The commercial is shot on RED epic, and post produced by Henriette Carlsen and Hocus Focus: Edited by Henrik Berge, online and colour grading by Bengt Ove Sannes. and sound design by Preben Grieg-Halvorsen. We are looking forward to more films to come!
