The grand, old boys from Gjøvik and Vazelina Bilopphøggers are the greatest promoters of chopped up potatoes or pommes frites as most of us like to call it. Sitting at the kitchen table with an old radio, knitted Norwegian sweaters, talking with a charming and very recognisable dialect, the two can assure us that these potatoes are the best and most crispy pommes frites in the world. Especially when Eldar defines the blond Høggern as a globetrotter as he has visited no less than Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Syden (The South). The secret of success is the Norwegian recipe or so the story goes. However, perhaps even more unforgettable than the bit softer and more tasteful Jarlsberg Edel cheese is the commercial from the production company Animasjonsdepartementet. There is a pretty awesome use of slow-motion going on, as a tablecloth is drawn off a set table. Cucumbers, cups and dishes, cheese, glasses, olives and twisted facial expressions can be identified as the strangest thing happen. As flowers and monkeys are going down for landing, the olives, toothpicks and nicely rolled slices of cheese have found each other in the air and are ready to be served on a plate. So are the salad with cheese and the bread with cheese. Nice, delicate and well done by director Marc Reisbig and producer Jakob Thomessen. After a massively successful breakthrough in 2011, Gabrielle Leithaug has arrived back on the music & video scene with the first single REGN FRA BLÅ HIMMEL (or Rain from a Blue Sky) from her forthcoming second album. It is great to have the little bit scary redhead back and quite funny to, to read the review at the British website Scandipop: " A darker shade of pop song, with a tense, dramatic and ever so slightly grimey production. But as this is Scandinavia we’re dealing with here, she’s obviously plonked a poptastic chorus over the top of things too. And thankfully so. All order restored. A brilliant return to form from Ms Gabrielle, and perhaps her best track to date, despite taking into consideration the corkers which have gone before it". Not too shabby, indeed. The video production reflects the reference to the grimey and raw, as the shoot was really not intended to be a music video but a behind the scene film from the studio. The location is New York, and Gabrielle's partner in crime as they are bad and angry and setting fire to a teddy bear is a friend of the photographer who lives in NY.
