THE SOUND OF THE NORWEGIAN BAND LUKESTAR IS SO PARTICULAR. IT IS SO CHARACTERISTIC AND FASCINATING THAT WHEN A NEW MUSIC VIDEO IS RELEASED, YOU WILL EXPECT SOMETHING MAGNIFICENTLY ABSTRACT.
The second single POSERS OF DOUBT from Lukestar’s latest album TAIGA, comes with a music video and ditto expectations. We are brought to a school and invited to take part in the making of the music video. It is a pleasure for a production-loving heart when the production-process is incorporated with crew, dolly, cameras, green screen and the endless rehearsals and takes. However, it is very real and down to earth. Just as I’m surprised by the contrast in the larger-than-life sound meeting hard-core illusion-breaker images, it happens. Beautifully coloured, strange and mesmerising things are growing from the roof in perfect harmony with the song. Is it tulips or perhaps leek? The point is, it is like no other, one in a kind and impossible to categorise. Not strange, perhaps, when the songs of the album have found their way into the light in “the intersection between nature’s and human’s consciousness”, to refer to Lukestar’s official website. Oh, what a joy. No wonder they needed Hocus Focus and Mathias Theissen’s skills to do the colour grading. The production company is Øyedrops and the man behind the idea is also the director and the photographer Mads Hornsletten.
